Norhstar, designed by Miller Roodell Architects with interiors by Hallworth Design, sits directly across from the Northstar Nature Preserve, just east of downtown Aspen, Colorado. Tremendous attention was dedicated in locating the house perfectly within the site in order to magnify the sweeping views and surrounding valley floor.

The characteristics, design and layout of the house are very organic as juxtaposed to the landscape which provides a complimentary interaction with the surrounding nature preserve. This home, one of the more rustic projects Hansen Construction has been a apart of, utilizes reclaimed materials paired with mountain contemporary accents. The combination creates an exciting challenge — expressing the characteristics of the raw reclaimed materials while still providing clean lines and reveals that are consistent with our precise tolerances.

The project includes sophisticated and conscientious energy systems all in an incredibly warm detailed presentation. The contemporary aspects of the home, including steel window systems, ornamental trusses and blackened steel accents, all compliment the reclaimed aesthetic. There isn’t an element that appears inconsistent with the overall intent and vision of the artist client.

Situated on a private pond near Highland’s Mountain, the Pond house is the embodiment of the contemporary architectural form. Competed in 2004, Hansen Construction had the pleasure of working with an amazing team comprised of Antoine Predock Architect & Studio Gang Interiors to execute a one-of-a-kind design that will truly stand the test of time.

The Highlands Pond House is a 14,000 square foot residence made up of two separate structures located in Aspen, Colorado. The main residence is 12,500 square feet and the Garage and Caretakers Units are 1,500 square feet. The home is comprised of Brazilian granite, stainless steel, Colorado Buff sandstone, butcherblock maple ceilings, and titanium wall cladding and roof. The interiors also feature stainless steel and glass accents including a glass floor supported by glass beams complimented by bold forms of architectural concrete. The house is nestled into the landscape consisting of native Aspen groves and a large, private pond all of which creates a unique and coveted oasis for the client.

Designed by Shope Reno Wharton, this traditional style home was completed in 2006. Construction incorporated rustic materials such as locally harvested standing dead Engelmann spruce, moss rock and hewn timber paneling. Hansen Construction enjoyed achieving perfect tolerances while using materials with inconsistent dimensions. Each detail and transition, from board to board, material to material, was its own well thought out challenge.

Both the interiors by Victoria Hagan Interiors and Landscape Design by Design Workshop, truly compliment the architecture and surroundings. Hansen Construction appreciated being a part of this team and the execution of each aspect of the design.
